Tesla has officially unveiled the redesigned second-generation Roadster. The company set a production target for the vehicle in 2028, following multiple delays since the initial prototype debut in 2017.
In China, customers can now reserve the Performance version of the sports car. The reservation process requires a fully refundable deposit of ¥332 000, which is equivalent to $49 390. Payments must be completed within 10 days of the order.
The Performance model features a two-seat layout, active aerodynamics, and a multi-mode suction system. Tesla claims the vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 96 km/h in under 1.6 seconds.
Additional upgrade packages are available in the US market. The Thrust package adds cold-gas thrusters for track use, while the Rocket configuration, designed for aerial maneuvers, is restricted to invitation-only buyers.
The unveiling event took place at the SpaceX testing facility in Texas. While the demonstration showcased aerial capabilities, Tesla clarified that the standard Performance version does not include the full flight system.
