Tesla is preparing to integrate its Robotaxi network into the vehicle service process. According to version 4.60.5 of the Tesla app, the company plans to use autonomous vehicles to transport customers to and from service centers, replacing the current reliance on loaner cars and Uber vouchers.

The app code reveals a new interface for selecting transportation methods. Options include Robotaxi, paid loaner vehicles, electric bicycles, and the ride-hailing service Bolt. This strategy aims to reduce the costs associated with maintaining loaner fleets and paying for third-party ride-hailing services.

Tesla currently operates its Robotaxi service in seven major US metropolitan areas, including Austin, Dallas, Houston, Miami, Orlando, Tampa, and the San Francisco Bay Area. Austin is considered the most likely location for the initial rollout, as the Cybercab model has already joined the local fleet.

The integration of autonomous transport into the repair workflow allows Tesla to optimize service center logistics. By utilizing its own fleet, the company expects to lower operational expenses while maintaining mobility for customers during vehicle maintenance.
