Tesla owners currently use the Full Self Driving (FSD) V14 software on vehicles equipped with Hardware 4. The system manages routine driving tasks, including navigation, stop signs, and traffic lights, and handles the start and end of trips, such as parking in lots.
The AI assistant Grok, referred to as Ara, is integrated into the Tesla interface. Users can access the bot via the microphone button. The system features a variable query limit that adjusts based on current network load.
According to the AI assistant, Tesla plans to release FSD V15 between the end of 2026 and the beginning of 2027. This version is expected to introduce unsupervised driving capabilities, building on the limited geofenced robotaxi services currently operating in Austin, Texas.
Tesla currently charges a monthly subscription fee of $99 for FSD access. The company previously offered permanent subscriptions for $6,000, but this option is no longer available for new purchasers. Automatic lane assist is now excluded from standard vehicle features.
