Tesla has officially initiated a countdown on its website, signaling the upcoming debut of the second-generation Roadster. The event is scheduled for October 1, 2026, marking a new phase for the long-delayed sports car project.

The company first showcased a prototype of the vehicle nearly nine years ago. Elon Musk has repeatedly teased the model, suggesting it will feature thrusters to enhance acceleration, maneuvering, and even the ability to hover briefly above the ground.

Initial specifications announced in November 2017 included a price range of $200,000 to $250,000, a range of approximately 1,000 km, and acceleration to 100 km/h in under 2 seconds. The top speed was projected to exceed 400 km/h.

Although the vehicle was originally expected to enter production in 2020, the launch has faced multiple delays. Tesla has already collected deposits from customers, and the October event is intended to clarify the status of the project.
