Tesla has scheduled a public reveal for its long-delayed Roadster model on October 1. The company previously missed at least seven production deadlines since the original prototype debuted on November 16, 2017. Tesla attributed these delays to manufacturing complexity, supply chain constraints, and shifting internal priorities.

The vehicle features a claimed 0-to-60 mph acceleration time of 1.9 seconds in standard trim, which drops to under one second with an optional SpaceX thruster package. The car is expected to reach a top speed exceeding 250 mph and offer a maximum driving range of up to 620 miles on a single charge.

While the October event serves as a showcase, production and deliveries are not expected to begin until the 2027 to 2028 timeframe at the earliest. The company prioritized mass-market models like the Model Y and the development of autonomous driving programs over the low-volume Roadster during the past nine years.
