Tesla announced plans to begin sales of its autonomous Cybercab by the end of 2026. The vehicle is a two-seater model finished in gold, featuring no steering wheel or traditional manual controls.

Currently, US federal regulators are evaluating the vehicle to determine if it meets existing safety standards. Lars Moravy, Tesla's vice president of vehicle engineering, confirmed that current production units are allocated to the company's own robotaxi fleet.

The company intends to supply fully developed autonomous vehicles to customers in small batches initially. Production will scale up as Tesla gains experience in operating its own fleet and managing private ownership of the units.

Tesla introduced the option for third parties to purchase the Cybercab during a presentation in Austin last month. Interested parties can currently register their interest through an online form provided by the manufacturer.
