Tesla is bringing its Cybercab robotaxi to China for a series of static displays. The vehicle will be showcased in Beijing at the Huamao Tesla experience store from September 17 to 27, and in Shanghai at HKRI Taikoo Hui from September 17 to 21.

The Cybercab features a two-seat design and lacks a steering wheel, pedals, and traditional rearview mirrors. It relies entirely on Tesla's autonomous software for navigation. These events are intended for public viewing only and do not signify the start of commercial operations or sales in China.

Tesla previously launched the Cybercab in Austin, Texas, in September 2026. As of August 31, the company had registered 45 units for its local fleet. The vehicle, which debuted as a concept in October 2024, entered volume production in April 2026 using the Unboxed manufacturing process.

The exhibition in China coincides with a period of declining sales for Tesla in the region. Retail sales in China dropped 12.43 percent year-on-year to 50 047 vehicles in August, marking the third consecutive month of decline for the automaker.
