Tesla has increased the production of its Optimus humanoid robot tenfold at its Fremont facility. The company began transitioning from hand-built prototypes to assembly-line manufacturing between late July and August 2026.

The current production focus is on internal factory usage. Tesla aims for an initial capacity of 1,000 units per month, with a target to reach 1,000 units per week by the end of 2026. Future plans involve scaling output to 10,000 units per month.

Elon Musk described the supply chain development as extremely challenging, noting that many components are being created from scratch. Data from September 2026 indicates orders for approximately 15,000 units, aligning with the company's annual production goals.

While commercial sales are planned for the future, current efforts are limited to internal deployment. Analysts suggest that once full commercialization is reached, the price per unit could potentially fall below $30,000.
