The number of active Tesla robotaxis in Austin has returned to eight vehicles over the past week, according to data from the Robotaxi Tracker. This figure matches the fleet size observed when the service initially launched in June 2025.
Following the Cybercab launch event held in Austin on September 3, the count of unique robotaxis carrying passengers briefly exceeded 100. Prior to this event, the active fleet typically ranged between 20 and 40 vehicles throughout the year.
Tesla has registered 476 autonomous vehicles with the Texas DMV, including 409 Model Y units and 67 Cybercabs. This represents an increase of 285 registrations over the last 30 days.
Despite the growth in registrations, tracking data indicates that only 265 of these vehicles have been matched to license plates spotted on the road. Furthermore, only 179 vehicles were observed in the last 30 days, with just eight actively transporting passengers in the most recent seven-day period.
