Tesla has officially confirmed that over 300 Cybercab units are currently providing paid transport services in Austin, Texas. This announcement coincides with the second anniversary of the vehicle's initial unveiling at the We, Robot event held in Hollywood.

Data from the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles indicates a rapid expansion of the fleet. Between October 2 and October 9, 2026, the number of registered Cybercab units increased from 169 to 319, with 150 new vehicles added in just one week.

According to The Tesla Newswire, the Cybercab fleet accounts for approximately 43% of the 739 autonomous Tesla vehicles operating in Texas. The remainder of the company's local robotaxi service consists primarily of Model Y vehicles.

For context, the Waymo robotaxi fleet currently operates approximately 1,500 vehicles. Tesla's director of artificial intelligence, Ashok Elluswamy, stated that the company is now focused on meeting its deployment schedules.
