Tesla has restarted the reservation process for its Roadster model, requiring a total deposit of $50,000. The payment structure involves an immediate $5,000 credit card charge, which is fully refundable, followed by a $45,000 wire transfer within 10 days to finalize the booking.

The company scheduled an official reveal event for October 1 at the SpaceX rocket test facility in McGregor, Texas. Tesla has restricted airspace over this location from September 18 through October 2. Elon Musk has suggested the demonstration will feature SpaceX-designed cold gas thrusters.

Early depositors who placed orders in November 2017 have been waiting nearly nine years for the vehicle. While those initial buyers were promised a base price of $200,000, a 620-mile range, and a sub-1.9-second acceleration to 60 mph, Tesla has not confirmed if these specifications remain valid.

The upcoming event is expected to provide updated pricing, technical specifications, and production targets. Despite the scheduled reveal, market skepticism remains high, with prediction contracts estimating a less than 5 percent chance of customer deliveries occurring before the end of 2026.
