Tesla has significantly altered the design of its upcoming Roadster, moving away from the smooth, curved aesthetic of the 2017 concept toward an angular, wedge-shaped appearance. The new prototype, revealed in October 2026, draws inspiration from aerospace designs like the SR-71 Blackbird and F-35 fighter jet, reflecting the company's collaboration with SpaceX.
The vehicle has undergone a complete structural overhaul, transitioning from the original 2+2 layout to a strict two-seater configuration. Technical updates include the integration of steer-by-wire controls, active aerodynamics, and various experimental technologies, aligning the model with the sharp-edged design language seen in the Cybertruck.
Production of the new Roadster is currently scheduled for 2028. This timeline marks a significant delay for customers who placed initial deposits back in 2017, as the final production version represents a departure from the original vision presented nine years ago.
