Tesla has officially launched commercial passenger services for its two-seater autonomous Cybercab in Austin, Texas. Following the rollout, Elon Musk indicated that the company aims to introduce the robotaxi service to European markets in the near future.
The expansion strategy for Europe may mirror the US approach, likely beginning with testing and internal trials in Germany. Tesla has already filed permit applications for new facilities and a railway hub at its Giga Berlin site, potentially to accommodate modular production lines for the vehicle.
Despite the company's ambitions, the Cybercab faces significant regulatory hurdles. While FSD technology is approved in 6 European countries, some nations, including France and Sweden, oppose its widespread deployment. Obtaining approval for a vehicle without a steering wheel or pedals remains a complex challenge.
