Tesla has introduced a new safety feature in its FSD (Supervised) system with the release of version 14.3.9. The software can now intervene during manual driving if it detects an imminent collision where automatic emergency braking might be insufficient. The system also activates if it identifies significant driver distraction or accidental deactivation of the FSD mode.

The company notes that the feature engages FSD (Supervised) to secure the vehicle before continuing the journey. This development marks a shift in the system's role, as it now monitors human drivers to prevent accidents. Previously, FSD was marketed primarily for automated navigation, though it always required driver supervision.

Tesla also announced that Slovenia has officially approved the use of FSD (Supervised) on its roads. This makes Slovenia the sixth European nation to authorize the system, joining the Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, Estonia, and Lithuania. A vote regarding potential EU-wide approval is scheduled for 6 October 2026.

In preparation for the upcoming EU regulatory decision, Tesla has launched an online dashboard. This platform provides public access to data regarding distances covered using the assistance system and accident statistics. The company aims to demonstrate the safety benefits of the technology to overcome existing bureaucratic hurdles in Europe.
