Tesla has initiated a public display of its Cybercab robotaxi in China, marking the vehicle's first appearance in the country. The company clarified that the showcase is intended solely to demonstrate product design and technological concepts rather than to signal a market launch.

The vehicle will be exhibited at the Huamao experience store in Beijing from September 17 to September 27. Additionally, it will be displayed in the LG1 north hall of HKRI Taikoo Hui in Shanghai between September 17 and September 21.

Tesla explicitly stated that it has no plans to sell the Cybercab in China or initiate driverless ride-hailing services there. The vehicle lacks a steering wheel and pedals, which prevents its registration and sale to consumers under current Chinese regulations.

While Tesla showcases the static model, local competitors such as Baidu’s Apollo Go, Pony.ai, and WeRide continue to operate commercial driverless services in multiple Chinese cities. Tesla currently lacks the necessary approvals for unsupervised operations in the region.
