Tesla has postponed the unveiling of its second-generation Roadster, originally scheduled for 1 October, by two weeks. The company cited severe weather conditions as the reason for the delay, noting that the event requires an outdoor venue. The presentation is now set for 15 October.
The event was reportedly planned for Waco, Texas. While the prototype for the vehicle was first introduced in November 2017 with an initial production target of 2020, the launch has faced multiple delays over the past several years.
Reservations for the Roadster have been open since 2022. In Germany, customers can secure a reservation by paying an initial deposit of €4 000, followed by a mandatory bank transfer of €39 000 within ten days.
Future owners are still awaiting details on the final vehicle specifications. There is ongoing uncertainty regarding whether specific features, such as the jet system previously mentioned by CEO Elon Musk, will receive regulatory approval for use on public roads in the European Union.
