Tesla has launched its first public exhibition of the Cybercab in China, with static displays currently running in Beijing and Shanghai. The vehicle is being showcased at the Beijing Huamao Tesla Experience Center from September 17 to 27, and at the HKRI Taikoo Hui shopping center in Shanghai from September 17 to 21.
The company clarified that these events are for static display purposes only. There are currently no plans for the commercial launch or the operation of autonomous ride-hailing services for the Cybercab within the Chinese market. This marks the first time the model has been exhibited publicly in the country.
The Cybercab is a two-seater vehicle designed specifically for autonomous ride-hailing, featuring butterfly doors and a hatchback trunk. It lacks a steering wheel, pedals, and rearview mirrors, relying instead on a 22-inch central display. The car utilizes a pure vision approach with eight cameras and an end-to-end neural network system.
The model was originally unveiled as a concept at the 'We, Robot' event in October 2024. Production began at the Texas Gigafactory in April 2026, following the first unit rolling off the assembly line in February 2026. The vehicle is manufactured using a box-assembly process to improve production efficiency and reduce costs.
