During the 2026 Hong Kong Fintech Week, Tencent's cross-border payment platform TenPay Global and UnionPay International signed a memorandum of understanding. This agreement marks the first time the two companies have collaborated in the cross-border remittance sector.
The partnership aims to develop more convenient remittance services. TenPay Global currently maintains a network of over 60 partner banks and financial institutions, facilitating fund transfers to China from more than 150 countries and regions worldwide.
The TenPay Global remittance service to WeChat operates on a 24/7 basis. According to the company, funds can be credited to accounts within one minute, while identity verification and compliance checks are processed in milliseconds.
