Former TikTok employees Melody Chu and Jing Liu have launched Superpose, an iOS camera application that utilizes generative AI to provide users with posing suggestions. The app generates four potential poses for a photo, which users can save or use as a guide to align themselves within the frame.
Since its launch in July, the application has recorded over 22,000 downloads, with users generating more than 190,000 poses. The company offers five free daily generations, with additional packs available for purchase at $2.99 for five generations or $9.99 for 20 generations.
The startup has secured $2.2 million in funding from investors including Khosla Ventures, Meitu, and OVTR Ventures. The founders previously held positions at companies such as Meta, Roblox, Slack, and TikTok, with experience in product development and 3D face-scanning technology.
Superpose aims to specialize in portrait photography by focusing on real-life image capture rather than AI-generated backgrounds. The development team is currently working on enhancing generation styles, personalization features, and real-time coaching capabilities within the viewfinder.
