Starlink has launched a beta program called Starlink for Communities, enabling property owners and local operators to generate income from their satellite internet equipment. Participants install a terminal and router in high-demand locations, such as residential complexes, campsites, or event venues.
Nearby users can purchase temporary internet access passes valid for an hour, a day, or a week for a single device. A monthly plan is also available, supporting up to four devices simultaneously. The program allows one terminal to serve multiple users, eliminating the need for individual satellite dishes for every household.
Starlink manages the technical and financial aspects of the service, including account creation, payment processing, access control, and network maintenance. The equipment owner is responsible for the physical installation, power supply, and basic maintenance of the hardware.
The company is currently accepting applications from potential hosts in several countries. This model mirrors the passive income concept previously proposed for Tesla robotaxis, where the company handles infrastructure and operations while the user provides the physical asset.
