Swiss International Air Lines has officially launched its satellite internet service powered by Starlink. The system debuted on September 28, 2026, aboard an Airbus A320neo registered as HB-JDM and named Iseltwald. The aircraft completed its inaugural commercial flight from Zurich to Thessaloniki, marking the start of the rollout.
The connectivity solution utilizes two low-profile antennas mounted on the fuselage to maintain a link with Starlink satellites in low Earth orbit. This setup allows passengers to access the internet throughout the entire flight, including segments over the ocean. The service is available across all cabin classes, from Economy to First.
SWISS provides free Wi-Fi access to members of the Miles & More program and users with a Travel ID. While the service is available for general use, the airline prohibits voice and video calls. Passengers are also encouraged to use headphones when consuming audio or video content during their flight.
This initiative is part of a broader strategy within the Lufthansa Group. Following the integration of Starlink on Lufthansa aircraft, the group intends to expand the technology across its fleet. By the end of 2029, the company plans to equip more than 850 aircraft across SWISS, Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, and Brussels Airlines.
