Sberbank has developed a demand model for microelectronics in Russia to support the strategy of the United Microelectronics Company (UMC). The document outlines three development scenarios through 2036, measuring demand in 200 mm silicon wafers and monetary terms.

In 2025, the market consumed 0.8–1 million wafers, valued at 500 ₽–600 billion. By 2036, the base scenario projects demand to reach 1.6–1.8 million wafers (1.4 ₽–1.5 trillion), while the conservative scenario estimates 1.1–1.3 million, and the optimistic one expects 2.0–2.2 million.

Computing infrastructure and telecommunications account for 57% of total demand. Memory and logic chips represent over 60% of the volume, with 70% of this demand focused on technologies below 16 nm, which are currently unavailable for domestic production in Russia.

The UMC, which includes Mikron, Angstrem, and NM-Tech, aims to achieve 70% localization of key equipment and materials by 2030. The development plan involves an investment of 1 ₽ trillion, with 750 ₽ billion coming from the state budget and 250 ₽ billion from Sberbank.
