Samsung is reportedly planning to return to its traditional launch schedule for the Galaxy S27 series, with a potential release window set for January or February of next year. While the S26 series was delayed until late February, the upcoming lineup is expected to follow the earlier release pattern seen with the S24 and S25 models.
Hardware specifications for the S27 series remain under internal review, particularly regarding memory and storage upgrades. Samsung is evaluating whether to equip the Pro and Ultra models with LPDDR6 memory and UFS 5.0 storage, or to retain the current LPDDR5X and UFS 4.x standards to manage rising production costs.
Technical specifications for the newer standards include data rates of 10.6 to 14.4 Gbps for LPDDR6, as defined by JEDEC. Meanwhile, Samsung's UFS 5.0 technology promises sequential read speeds of up to 10.8 GB/s and write speeds of 9.5 GB/s, with a 40 percent improvement in energy efficiency compared to previous versions.
Processor configurations for the flagship S27 Ultra are also currently uncertain. Reports suggest potential thermal issues during testing of Qualcomm's next-generation flagship chip, leading to speculation about a possible shift to the Exynos 2700. Qualcomm has publicly denied that its upcoming chipset suffers from overheating problems.
