Salesforce is shifting its strategy by decoupling its platform from the traditional browser interface. In April 2026, the company launched Headless 360, which exposes platform capabilities via APIs and command-line tools. This allows agents and external applications to interact with Salesforce data and logic without requiring users to log into the main system.
In August 2026, Salesforce expanded its partnership with Anthropic through the Claudeforce integration. This tool includes 37 prebuilt sales skills, enabling Claude to access live Salesforce context, update records, and execute governed actions. This move signals that Salesforce is comfortable hosting workflows within third-party interfaces while maintaining its role as the underlying data layer.
The company continues to develop its own agent ecosystem through Agentforce. According to fiscal 2027 second-quarter results, Agentforce annual recurring revenue surpassed $1.5 billion, marking a growth of over 240% year over year. This figure now encompasses various AI offerings, including Slackbot and Headless 360, reflecting the company's broad definition of its agentic layer.
Former Salesforce VP of Engineering Yoav Kolodner notes that while opening systems to agents improves access, it complicates enterprise governance. His startup, Tribal, recently raised a $10 million seed round led by Team8 to address these challenges. Tribal's new product, Campfire, uses a Metadata Fabric to help teams manage dependencies and permissions when deploying AI-driven changes.
