Russia is currently exploring opportunities to export computer-aided design (CAD) systems to India. The initiative, led by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, aims to help domestic developers enter new markets and promote Russian IT products and electronics abroad.
The project is coordinated by the Federal State Autonomous Institution CIT, which manages digital attaches. Industry experts suggest that Russian CAD and PLM software, used in microelectronics and robotics, could be competitive in the Indian market.
Another key aspect of the proposal involves contract manufacturing of Russian-designed electronic components at Indian facilities. This move is intended to provide domestic companies with access to modern production lines.
However, some industry players, such as representatives from the electronics manufacturer Fplus, suggest focusing on chemical and rare-earth materials. They argue that India already possesses the necessary industrial infrastructure for these sectors.
