Rostelecom has introduced the Cyber-Sheriff hardware and software complex designed to monitor traffic safety on federal highways and city streets. The system is mounted on patrol vehicles and features a 360-degree video signaling panel that records traffic violations while the car is in motion.
The complex automatically detects speeding, driving in the wrong lane, and illegal parking. It also performs license plate recognition to identify vehicles that are wanted or of operational interest. Data collected by the system is transmitted in real time to the Pautina software platform.
Currently, two units are operating in the Tyumen region, specifically in Tyumen and Tobolsk. A third vehicle is scheduled to begin patrolling the northern section of a federal highway in December 2026. According to the regional State Traffic Inspectorate, the system has already recorded 2,233 traffic violations this year.
Of the total violations detected by Cyber-Sheriff, 1,943 involved speeding and 290 were related to improper parking. Authorities state that the deployment of these mobile complexes is focused on accident-prone areas to improve road safety and reduce the overall number of traffic accidents.
