MegaFon has deployed new network infrastructure in the Chelyabinsk region, specifically in the cities of Karabash and Bakal. The project utilizes domestic base stations manufactured by Yadro, a subsidiary of ICS Holding. This deployment provides stable connectivity for over 25,000 local residents.
The installed telecommunications equipment operates in the mid-frequency band and supports mobile internet speeds of up to 100 Mbps. In Karabash, coverage extends to the shore of Lake Serebry and the area around Dzerzhinsky Street, serving local social institutions.
In Bakal, the equipment serves the Rudnichny settlement and a section of the regional road connecting Satka and Bakal to the M-5 Ural federal highway. According to MegaFon regional director Gennady Zhukov, the hardware features a 5G-Ready architecture, allowing for future network upgrades without additional installation work.
This initiative is part of a broader agreement between MegaFon and Yadro, which includes the supply of 1,500 base stations. These units are being integrated into the operator's regional networks in phases.
