The Giredmet Institute, a subsidiary of Rosatom, has developed a new production technology for high-purity thallium nitrate. This project was executed under a state contract with the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, resulting in the creation of technical regulations and specifications for the substance.
The produced samples have successfully passed testing at an active manufacturing facility, confirming their suitability for use in phosphate gold plating electrolytes. According to the developers, the domestic product will have a production cost 40% lower than that of foreign alternatives, while its purity level exceeds current market requirements by 100 times.
Thallium nitrate is a critical component in microelectronics and microwave technology, utilized for gold plating contacts, manufacturing semiconductors, and alloying thin films. Giredmet intends to scale up production volumes in response to rising demand and plans to expand its product range based on this technology.
