Rocketeer has introduced a turnkey V6 engine conversion for the Mazda MX-5 NC generation. The upgrade replaces the original 1.8-liter or 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a 3.0-liter Jaguar AJ30 V6 unit. This engine, based on the Ford Duratec architecture, features technology originally developed by Porsche.

The modified engine produces approximately 304 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. The conversion includes a carbon fiber intake, individual throttle bodies, a reworked exhaust, a modified cylinder head, a lighter flywheel, and a reinforced clutch. Despite the larger engine, the car maintains its factory 50:50 weight distribution and original curb weight.

The conversion process leaves the vehicle's bulkhead and subframe untouched. Customers must provide their own Mazda MX-5 NC donor car for the project. Build slots for the conversion are currently being allocated through 2027, with a public debut scheduled for the 2026 Goodwood Revival.

The cost for a complete turnkey build is £25 000 plus VAT in the UK. Rocketeer intends to scale delivery by working with accredited partners in North America, Germany, and Australia, rather than shipping vehicles internationally.
