Renault has unveiled a new electric concept car, the Renault 8 Gordini, which reimagines the classic 1964 model. The original vehicle featured a 95 hp four-cylinder engine, while the new electric version is equipped with a 270 hp powertrain.
The design team produced over 300 initial sketches for the project. From these proposals, two concepts were selected and merged to create the final blueprint. The exterior design includes 19-inch front wheels and 20-inch rear wheels to improve road grip.
Alexandre Malval, VP of Design at Renault, noted that the larger rear wheels emphasize the rear-engine layout of the original model. The car features a three-layer paint finish inspired by the signature Bleu de France color of the 1964 version.
The interior of the concept car incorporates rally-inspired elements to reflect its sporting heritage. The vehicle combines modern suspension and aerodynamic components with the iconic aesthetic of the historic Renault 8 Gordini.
