The open-source operating system project ReactOS has implemented support for the Thunderbolt 4 interface. This development marks a significant milestone in improving the system's compatibility with modern hardware standards.

The team utilized AI-assisted programming, specifically a method referred to as Vibe Coding, to achieve this integration. Developers used natural language prompts to generate code, which was then reviewed and verified by human engineers.

AI tools were employed to manage code generation, interface analysis, and technical documentation. According to the project team, this approach significantly reduced the development cycle compared to traditional manual coding methods.

Thunderbolt 4, an Intel standard, provides up to 40Gbps of bandwidth for data, video, and power. Integrating this technology allows ReactOS to support modern peripherals like high-speed storage and external GPUs.

The developers emphasized that AI acts as an efficiency tool rather than a replacement for human programmers. All AI-generated code underwent rigorous testing and manual review to ensure kernel and driver stability.
