The China Agriculture Press has initiated a recall and removal of the book series titled South China Sea Marine Life Popular Science Series. This decision follows reports from readers regarding an erroneous illustration of a two-headed shrimp featured on both the cover and inside pages of the 13th volume.

The publisher confirmed that the series relies heavily on AI-generated imagery. According to industry insiders, the problematic image was intended to depict the molting process of a tiger prawn, but the use of immature AI technology resulted in a visual error that caused public confusion.

The book includes descriptive text explaining that molting is a critical biological stage for tiger prawns as they grow and adapt to their environment. Following the public outcry, the publisher has removed the books from its official WeChat mini-program and flagship online store.
