Polish Deputy Minister of Development and Technology Michał Jaros expressed concerns regarding the Artemis program led by NASA. In an official response dated 13 October, the minister highlighted issues with financial transparency, high costs, and limited accessibility for international partners.
Jaros noted that political and budgetary instability in the United States creates significant risks for long-term space exploration planning. According to the minister, such uncertainty has historically impacted the scope and pace of major international space initiatives.
Poland intends to prioritize its cooperation within the European Space Agency. Specifically, the country is focusing on the Argonaut lunar lander project, which aims to provide Europe with independent access to the Moon.
The Argonaut lander is designed to transport up to 1,500 kilograms of cargo, including rovers and scientific equipment. In January 2025, the European Space Agency awarded a contract worth €862 million to a consortium led by Thales Alenia Space.
The development of the Lunar Descent Element is currently underway, with the first mission launch targeted for 2030.
