Oura has introduced two cardiovascular health tracking features, Cardio Effort and automatic VO2 Max, for its Gen 3 and later smart rings. Access to these tools requires an active Oura membership.

Cardio Effort evaluates the intensity and duration of workouts to assess cardiovascular strain. It compares weekly activity against a personalized baseline, providing ratings from Light to Reaching.

The system suggests rest when effort levels are high, rather than just encouraging increased activity. This helps users balance their training intensity with necessary recovery periods.

The new automatic VO2 Max feature, currently in beta via Oura Labs, replaces the previous manual calibration method. It activates after a user completes five GPS-tracked walks, runs, or hikes.

Users can view their VO2 Max estimates, capacity ratings, and historical trends in the My Health Heart Hub section of the Oura application.
