Opentrons Labworks Inc. has secured $40 million in a Series E funding round. The investment was led by healthcare investor Avego, with participation from BroadOak Capital Partners. The company plans to use the capital to scale its robotics, software, and data infrastructure.

Founded in 2014, the company produces benchtop robots, specifically the Flex and OT-2 models. These systems automate repetitive laboratory tasks such as liquid handling, DNA extraction, PCR, and protein purification. The Flex model offers higher capacity and an optional robotic gripper for advanced automation.

The startup has deployed over 11,000 robots across more than 80 countries. Its client base includes 90% of the top 20 global pharmaceutical companies. Opentrons aims to integrate physical AI and robotics to enable autonomous scientific experimentation.
