OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT for Financial Services, a specialized version of its AI platform powered by GPT-6 Astra. The tool is designed to assist financial institutions with research, modeling, and the creation of client-facing materials.
Development involved collaboration with major firms, including Morgan Stanley and Evercore Inc., to ensure reliability. The platform allows integration with proprietary data and external sources like Bloomberg, FactSet, Crunchbase, Pitchbook, Daloopa, and LSEG News.
The service includes approximately 50 Model Context Protocol connectors and features adjustable response effort levels. Users can generate Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, and web-based dashboards directly from prompts.
Access to the product requires an enterprise subscription and direct application to OpenAI, as it is currently restricted to eligible institutions. The tool aims to automate complex analytical tasks, such as simulating financial forecast impacts.
Industry experts, including Goldman Sachs partner Chris Churchman, have expressed concerns regarding the potential for cognitive atrophy among junior staff if entry-level tasks are automated. OpenAI maintains that the tool is intended to boost productivity.
