OpenAI has updated its Google Chrome extension, enabling ChatGPT to interact directly with active browser tabs. Users can now tag Chrome within the ChatGPT web or desktop interface to allow the AI to access and process information from open pages.

The integration supports various tasks, including extracting data from event briefs to fill out registration forms, comparing vendor pricing and features across multiple tabs, and drafting emails based on service comparisons. The tool can also assist with scheduling by adding appointments to calendars.

The updated sidebar provides access to the full capabilities of ChatGPT and complete conversation history without requiring users to navigate away from their current page. This feature is designed to maintain workflow continuity while utilizing the AI assistant.

Additionally, the extension allows ChatGPT Work to perform automated actions within the browser. These capabilities include sending messages, completing web forms, downloading files, and managing browser tabs by organizing or grouping them.
