OpenAI announced new research results in mathematics, computer science, and physics. The company is utilizing a new strategy involving external expert groups, referred to as shepherds, to manage the release of these findings.

The mathematics result claims to resolve the Kakeya conjecture in all dimensions. For this, OpenAI released the AI-generated output, allowing researchers to organize their own efforts for explanation.

In computer science, the company claims to have disproved the exponential time hypothesis. OpenAI plans to assemble an external group of researchers to explain this specific finding.

The physics result, which explores quantum chromodynamics and its relationship to Yang-Mills theory, has not been released. OpenAI stated it will defer to an external group of experts regarding the release process.

The Advisory Group on Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence (AGMAI) criticized the practice of handpicking experts to receive early access to results. The group urged OpenAI to make all outputs public immediately.
