OpenAI, Anthropic, and AMD are investing over $1 billion into the Genesis Mission, a scientific initiative launched by the Donald Trump administration. This private funding aims to accelerate artificial intelligence research, with the federal government expected to contribute an additional $100 million to the program.

The initiative focuses on building a regional computing network connecting over 14 institutions across 10 southeastern states. A separate $1 billion investment is earmarked for Georgia to develop the necessary infrastructure, including data centers and power capacity, to support advanced AI research projects.

The National Compute platform will manage these resources, offering $100 million in compute credits to researchers. The system integrates hardware from Nvidia, AMD, and Google, allowing users to scale resources based on project needs. The program aims to aggregate 2 gigawatts of computing power by 2030, with 750 megawatts already secured.

Additionally, the program introduces Grid Defense, featuring an AI agent named Marshall for testing AI models before government deployment. Access is restricted to .gov, .mil, and .edu domains, with each user receiving $100 in compute credits. The platform ensures confidential evaluation criteria to prevent model bias during the testing phase.
