Nio’s sub-brand Firefly is expanding its electric vehicle lineup with a new model variant scheduled for release on October 23. The updated vehicle will feature a 60kWh battery pack from CATL, which increases the CLTC-rated range to 560 km. Current owners of Firefly vehicles will have the option to upgrade their existing cars to this new battery configuration.

The new 60kWh unit replaces the previous 42.1kWh Sunwoda battery, which offered a 420 km range. Despite the battery upgrade, the vehicle retains its rear-mounted single motor setup, providing 122 kW of power and 205 N·m of torque. The chassis remains unchanged, utilizing a MacPherson front suspension and a five-link rear suspension system.

Firefly recently reached a milestone by delivering its 90,000th vehicle. Since its market launch in April 2025, the brand has maintained a starting price of ¥119 800 for full ownership, or ¥79 800 under the battery-as-a-service program. The vehicle features a distinctive triple-ring headlight design and a 92-liter front trunk.

The interior of the model includes a 13.2-inch central touchscreen and a 6-inch LCD instrument cluster. The cabin layout is designed for urban convenience, featuring a walk-through space between the front seats to facilitate easier entry and exit from either side of the vehicle.
