BYD has initiated the global expansion of its Racco electric model, following its initial launch in Japan this July. The company is now accepting confirmed bookings in Sri Lanka and has opened pre-orders in Macao.

In Sri Lanka, the Racco is available in the Premium trim for LKR 12.191 million, with an introductory price of LKR 11.45 million available until 9 November. The vehicle features a 47 kW motor and a 35.8 kWh LFP battery, offering a range of 320 kilometers under the WLTP standard.

The model includes a 10.1-inch infotainment system, heated front seats, and a suite of safety features such as Automatic Emergency Braking and Blind Spot Detection. It supports DC charging up to 50 kW, allowing a 30 to 80 percent charge in 25 minutes.

BYD aims to sell 3,000 units of the Racco in Sri Lanka over the next year, marking the first electric entry in the local kei car segment. In Japan, the company has recorded approximately 2,000 cumulative orders for the model since its launch.
