During China's Golden Week, which ran from October 1 to 7, Nio and BYD reported performance data for their respective energy replenishment networks. Nio's battery-swapping service demonstrated three times the efficiency of BYD's Flash Charging network.
BYD utilized 12,165 Flash Charging stations to facilitate over 1.22 million charging sessions. The network reached a peak of 188,344 vehicles served in one day, averaging 15.5 sessions per station on that day. The busiest BYD site completed 160 charging sessions in a single day.
Nio operated 4,168 battery-swapping stations nationwide. On its peak day, the network served 188,344 vehicles, with an average of 44 swaps per station. The busiest Nio station performed 211 battery swaps in one day.
Chinese regulations require that charging facilities be open to all vehicle brands. BYD allocates half of its connectors to other brands and half to its own models. Nio's network remains exclusive to its own vehicles as no other brands have joined the system.
