Volvo Cars is expanding its partnership with Nvidia to enhance autonomous driving safety in future vehicle models. The collaboration leverages nearly a decade of joint technical experience to integrate Volvo's safety engineering with Nvidia's advanced computing platforms.
The new technology stack incorporates Nvidia Hyperion sensors, the Halos operating system, and the Alpamayo Stack software. These tools are designed to enable autonomous navigation across diverse environments, including highways, busy urban streets, and parking scenarios.
The integration will debut in one of the upcoming models from Volvo's largest vehicle launch plan to date. The companies aim to introduce features that reduce the need for constant driver monitoring, focusing on improving safety standards and user trust.
The partnership, which began in 2017, aims to solidify Volvo's position in the software-defined vehicle market. Future all-electric models will feature these advanced computing capabilities to ensure both safety and convenience for drivers.
