Daimler Truck, Volvo Group, Toyota, Bosch, Air Liquide, TotalEnergies, TEAL Mobility, and MB Energy have formed a new hydrogen alliance. The group presented its strategy during the IAA Transportation event in Hanover to accelerate the adoption of hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles in Europe.

The primary objective of the alliance is to establish a German ecosystem capable of supporting the scalable deployment of hydrogen trucks by 2030. This initiative aims to integrate industry leaders across the entire value chain with political support from the German government.

The alliance plans to develop hydrogen refueling infrastructure designed to service up to 100 trucks per day. These efforts align with the European Union’s Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation, which requires the installation of hydrogen stations along major transport corridors.

To facilitate this infrastructure rollout, the German federal government launched a funding program in January. The initiative provides €220 million to support the construction of refueling stations and the development of trucks equipped with fuel cell or hydrogen combustion engines.
