MTS has deployed LTE network infrastructure in the remote settlement of Rayakoski, located in the Murmansk region. The project aims to provide high-speed mobile internet and voice services to the local population and critical infrastructure facilities.
The new equipment serves over 200 permanent residents and personnel operating the Paz Hydroelectric Power Station Cascade. This energy system consists of five automated stations on the Paz River, managed from a central hub in Rayakoski.
The network expansion also supports digital connectivity for researchers and eco-tourists visiting the Pasvik State Nature Reserve. According to MTS regional director Ekaterina Ivonina, the initiative is part of a broader strategy to improve digital access in isolated northern regions.
