MTS has deployed over 9,000 IoT-based smart electricity meters across seven municipalities in the Leningrad Region. The project was executed in partnership with the regional power grid operator LOESK. The new devices enable automated data transmission and real-time consumption monitoring for both residential and business customers.

The smart meters are installed in Tosno, Lodeynoye Pole, Luga, Otradnoye, Sosnovy Bor, Ulyanovka, and Siversky. The system reduces manual data entry errors and minimizes the need for on-site inspections. Additionally, the devices provide alerts regarding voltage fluctuations, allowing for faster responses to grid issues.

According to LOESK representatives, the implementation of these IoT solutions led to a significant decrease in power outages caused by exceeding electrical capacity limits during the first and second quarters of 2026. The company plans to continue its collaboration with MTS on further digitalization of energy infrastructure.
