Morphotonics, a Dutch company specializing in nanoimprint lithography, has secured €40 million in funding. The round included participation from 3M Ventures, Innovation Industries, BOM, Invest-NL, the EIC Fund, Ernij Next, and the European Investment Bank.
The startup plans to use the capital to scale production and expand into the data center market with optical components. The company is developing a new machine capable of producing over 6 million waveguides annually, with shipments expected to begin early next year.
Currently, Morphotonics employs 60 people, up from approximately 30 in September 2024. The company expects its headcount to stabilize at 70 to 75 employees. It has deployed 10 to 15 systems globally and aims to reach 50 deployments within the next two to three years.
Hardware sales account for roughly 90% of the company's revenue. Morphotonics provides both equipment and licensing for its manufacturing processes, which are utilized for products such as AR glasses and privacy screens.
