Mitsubishi is introducing the ASX VR-e, an electric SUV for the Australian market. The vehicle is based on the Bria model, which was developed by Foxtron Vehicle Technologies, a subsidiary of the electronics manufacturer Foxconn. The design of the crossover was created by Pininfarina, while Mitsubishi performed specific chassis tuning.
The flagship ASX VR-e GSR features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. It delivers 459 hp and 700 Nm of torque. The vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. In Sport mode, the torque distribution shifts from a 50:50 front-to-rear split to 30:70.
The company stated that there are no concrete plans to revive the Lancer Evolution, Galant, or Diamante models. A new Lancer Evolution is unlikely to appear before the 2030s. Meanwhile, Mitsubishi is reviving the Pajero model, which is built on the ladder-frame platform of the Triton pickup truck.
