Svolt, a company established by Great Wall Motor, has commenced mass production of its Dragon Armor semi-solid-state batteries. These units feature a 100 kWh capacity and are engineered for 900 V high-voltage architectures.
The battery supports 6C charging, allowing for a 500 km range recovery in 12 minutes. To manage thermal performance during rapid charging, the design incorporates liquid cooling and a specialized separator layer technology.
The manufacturer estimates the battery lifespan at over 1 million kilometers, with a rating of 3,000 charge cycles. Safety is managed by a six-layer protection system that exceeds Chinese national standards for impact resistance by three times.
While specific vehicle applications remain unconfirmed, the Wey V8X electric crossover is considered a potential candidate for the new technology. Svolt, which became an independent entity in 2018, continues to serve as a strategic partner to Great Wall Motor.
