Microsoft is updating its 365 Family and Premium subscription plans to allow users to share AI features. Primary account holders will soon be able to extend Copilot access and AI usage to up to five additional members on their plan, with the ability to manage access for younger users.

The company is shifting from individual AI usage limits to a unified allowance for the entire plan. Users will be able to apply this shared pool to specific advanced AI features and purchase additional usage capacity if needed. These changes are scheduled to roll out over the coming months.

Cloud storage policies are also changing, moving from 1 TB per person to a total of 2 TB of shared storage for the entire plan. This update takes effect after the first subscription renewal following May 2, 2027. Microsoft notes that existing subscribers in certain markets may receive transitional bonus storage.

The Microsoft 365 Premium plan, which includes Copilot Pro and Family benefits, launched one year ago at a price of $19.99 per month. The company states that the new shared storage model provides more flexibility for members who exceed individual limits, though it also allows for additional storage purchases.
